Blue Water Trips FAQ

Q- Do we all fish at the same time, take turns, etc?

A-     This depends on the type of fishing that we are doing at that time.  When we are chunking / jigging / bottom fishing, everyone will fish at the same time.  When we are trolling / kite fishing, anglers will take turns landing the fish.  Don’t worry, everyone will still have plenty of opportunities to catch fish. Most of our anglers are worn out by the end of the trip.

Q- Do we get to keep the fish that we catch?

A-     We split the catch differently on this trip than we do on all of our other trips so that each angler gets to go home with an equal share of each species.  For example, all yellowfin tuna will be split evenly between the anglers on board.  If we catch a swordfish, it will be cleaned and split evenly between the anglers.  This allows each angler to be able to take home and try some of each species, even if it wasn’t their turn to land that particular fish.

Q- What do we need to bring / not bring on the trip?

A-     Food, drinks, pillow, sleeping bag, clothes, sunglasses, sunblock, hat, toiletries.  The boat provides ice, grill supplies (charcoal, tongs, spatulas, pans, etc), coffee, coffee filters, paper plates, eating utensils, paper towels, and toilet paper.

Q- What about sleeping arrangements on the boat?

A-     The boat has bunks with vinyl covered mattresses. You can bring a fitted sheet to put over the mattress if you like (any size sheet will work). Bring your pillow and blanket or sleeping bag for your bunk. Several bunks do have electrical outlets by them in case someone in your group needs to use a CPAP machine.

Q- What kinds of foods do people usually bring?

A-     Breakfast: microwaveable biscuits, pre-made pastries, etc

Lunch: sandwiches, chips

Dinner: something to put on the grill like pre-seasoned chicken, burger, hot dog, or steak with simple sides like pre-made potato salad, cole slaw, or a potato to bake in the microwave

Snacks/Drinks: granola bars, water, Gatorade, trail mix, chips, etc

Q- What size cooler should I bring?

A-     Your cooler is used just to transport your food to the boat and to transport your bagged fish fillets back home.  Once you arrive at the boat, we unpack your coolers and put the food and drinks into the built-in refrigerators and ice chests on board.  This gives us more fishing space, so that we do not have 10 coolers all over the deck.  After your cooler is emptied, you can store it inside your vehicle until the trip is over.
